Hey people, I started the forum ( http://keepinginsectsforum.freeforums.net/ ) I am having trouble getting it out there. I have tried the posting in the other forum tricks and advertising it. However I think with an insect keeping forum I am drawing such a small amount of people.... so I expect it to grow slowly. However I think creating a website or webpage that is something like... for example the official guide to keeping insects that mentions my forum and advertises it clearly. What do you think and by the way I have never made a website, whats the easiest way i can go about making a website?

I would recommend installing a portal into your forum. A portal is basically an add-on that changes your home page, and allows you to customize the way everything on the website looks. The reason I bring this up is because most portals come with the ability to add real articles to your website. Articles are kept separate from forum posts, but members of the forum can add comments, and even post their own articles to your website.
The problem is, Proboards doesn't allow you to have a portal on your forum. To be honest, Proboards doesn't let you have much of anything. I would suggest just getting a web space, and installing your own forum software. If you're thinking of getting an entirely different website to post articles to anyway, there really is no point in sticking with freeforums.net.
