It could be a good idea if the presenter/speaker of the powerpoint slide show has a monotoned voice or a very boring personality. At least the powerpoint can be interesting to look at and the background music adds a nice touch if it was a power point about "Disneyland vacations or tropical vacations".
I like when people add related videos to their Power Point presentations since hearing someone talk about their slides for 15-20 minute can get kind of boring if the person is not a good public speaker.
But, for regular powerpoint presentations about school subjects like English, history, etc or a corporate type presentation. It is best to keep the power point simple and easy to read.
