Let's say I have a PR4 forum and want more new members posting actively. Should I include the line 'join my PR4 forum' as part of my own signature line? That might result in one of two things, either new members who are actively interested in a backlink for SEO reasons and stick around to become part of the community or maybe just spammers who come by and post once or twice for the backlink and then leave. What is your view on that? Would it be a good way to get new members, by 'advertising' the Page Rank of the forum, in hopes of getting new members?

Definitely not - activity is what counts to get new members. I rather be in a PR0 forum with decent activity than in a dead PR4 forum. 🙂

People still worry about Page Rank? 😱 😛

I agree with Mech on this one... I have one forum that is PR4 and its less active than my PR2 forum.

Unless you're running a promotion forum or something aimed at admins/webmasters, don't bother with this.
