I've found some of the most popular discussions on my forum are ones where I've shared a personal experience from my own day (such as vacation, etc) or other personal life moment. This is not the typical ask question/get answer type format you get on many forums. But it seems to work on my general chat forum. Just wondering if you have made use of this idea (sharing personal experiences) on your own forum?
It's the only way to develop a community. Otherwise you get stuck with filler topics like "What's your favorite color?" or "What's your favorite movie?"
I have in some forums, it depends on what the forum is and whether it would fit with the main topic or not. Members tend to like actual deep discussion rather than answering a question that has no discussion or revisit value.
