Have you used social media to advertise your forum? Does it work for you? What ways have you tried?

Are there perhaps new possibilities now? Let's brainstorm! 😀

For my much older forum, I made a Facebook page for it just to see how it goes and well, I didn't really work out for me (especially when most of my existing members hated Facebook, lawl). Might try again though, but can't guarantee it.

I did consider making a Twitter for The Lightweb at one point but, nah.

I tried a facebook page. It's not really as helpful as I thought it would be. I think maybe a group would be cool to set up to keep informing members of changes and stuff. But it doesn't really help promote to members in my opinion. I know an older forum back in 2010 used to make funny videos and advertise the forum in them. I think that'd be a good idea for this day and age because people like videos on facebook but I durno. 😱

Yes I'm using social media to promo my site. Facebook is one of them, I have a fanpage with more than 5000 fans, in the previous, I used to run FB ads on this page to get more fans and engagements.

Twitter is fairly effective for me, but it can be a bit of a drag to keep up with social media sometimes, still it's a very powerful tool.

Well, it's real people and probably much cheaper than AdWords or BingAds. Plus, you have the sharing aspect. If people like it, then it reaches more virally with no cost!

Social media is helpful in advertising your forum. My friend uses Facebook and twitter for this purposes. He regularly shares content more relatable with users. It really helps him to get more users on his forum.

I've tried Facebook and a little Twitter for promoting new content, however, I didn't stick with either long enough to yield results. Although, I would definitely say social media is a great piece of the foundation for any website. In today's world where modern social media is king, it's critical for any level of serious, wide-spread exposure.

It's better to put paid visitors in a social media group and/or email list. Otherwise, you're probably wasting money - even if your material is good - cause visitors often visit and run (regarding your forum or blog) - never to return.
