Using the Same Name Across Multiple Forums?

Do you use the same name across multiple forums, or do you try a new name whenever you join a new forum? As far as I am concerned, I try to use the same user name as well as an avatar on multiple forums. This will help me build the same personality across multiple forums.

98% of the time I use the same name, I do indeed and most of you would guess the name right. And no it's not Gary The Snail 😛

FP is that 2% that I have a different name

I used to use the same name whenever I signed up on forums that promoted here at FP....UNTIL someone ruined it and made it look like I was on a forum that I never agreed to. Apparently the site was converted to something other than what I signed up on so he thought it was okay to do, but it was sneaky and disrespectful. I now change the name every time I sign up elsewhere and no longer use that name that the other person thought he could manipulate.

I don’t change my username. Nor my avatar. I feel people get used to seeing the same name & avatar around forums so it helps create an identity for myself when I’m on other forums.

I use the same name across multiple forums for consistency reasons. Problem is, "Carlos" is a pretty common name, so I try variations of the name, like here... "Carlos X."

Tell me about it, my username is very common as "Empire" and yet been very lucky as It never gets used when joining, only been a handful of sites that I had to use another name with empire in the username still

Unless it's already taken, I always use my first name. Obviously easy to remember and only 4 letters to type.

Seriously, though, I think using the same name across multiple forums helps you with networking if you ever want to start a site.

I use the same username most of the time. I have a couple of exceptions, but it's mostly just PGen98 everywhere.

I like to use variations of names across the board and different avatars depending on the style I choose.

I try to stay with my first name when joining new forums, especially since my username is my first name on my own site. If I can't for whatever reason, I'll use something like Ashley G. Or something similar.
