Would you recommend using Windows' free WordPad program as a basic everyday word processor for everyday typing tasks like writing letters, making flyers, and other simple word processing tasks which are not for school, or work where you can get punished for incorrect formating and spacing, or incompatible file types.

WordPad looks good for someone with limited space on their hard drive like they install Windows onto a 20-30GB SSD drive since WordPad comes installed with Windows, so it does not use any additional space.

You should take a look at Open office and Libre office. 🙂

I think the portable USB version of Open Office and LibreOffice would be good for a computer with limited space because it can be installed on a USB drive, or SD card, so it won't be taking up the limited space on cheaper SSD which are only 20-32GB in size in most cases.

I sometimes use http://portableapps.com/ to make a portable USB drive to run programs on a USB drive on computers which don't belong to me like the schools PC, or PCs I rarely use like my old laptop.

Hmm, I haven't used Google Wordpad, to be frank I even hadn't know there's such a thing before I read your topic. I usually use Zoho.com, they have some online word processor, not as many functions as Microsoft Word, but okay for easy task documents.
