I only had a few friends that got it bad and those were people I've never met but knew online only. None of my relatives got it that I know of which makes me wonder if genealogy plays a part? Some households showed that a husband would get it but not the wife. What's up with that?

It is an unpredictable disease. My partner's brother in law with no underlying health conditions got it and ended up in hospital on Christmas Day. His son who has had a kidney transplant got it but only mildly, the wife didn't get it at all and she was the person who donated the kidney.
I have been in close contact with the virus and only had one dose of the vaccine. I didn't get it even though I am in a high risk group because of my age.
Some people are extremely lucky and their bodies have natural immunity to some viruses or pathogens. Meaning they were exposed to it, didn't show symptoms, and immediately became immune without having known anything.

Don't get the heads stuck in the sands now, It's was the same for Polio, SmallPox, etc. Try not to fret about the govt. knocking on your door, holding you against your will to get innoculated it's aren't gonna happen.
What's likely though is that you just gonna need it if your working at public places, food service, you got childern and they go to public schools, ect, etc etc.
Bottom line it's not news that COVID19 vacs would be required and can't even be legally required by the masses until at the VERY LEAST it's exited EUA status by the FDA.

I have no reservations about the vaccine because dying from the disease or suffering from the after effects of it would be much worse. There is so much misinformation on the internet and I have no doubt that in a few years this pandemic will be a memory and the majority will have seen that those who got vaccinated suffered no ill effects and will follow suit. Just history repeating itself.

I always wanted Moderna as I had heard good things about it but it's not available in the UK yet. We just have Pfizer and AstraZeneca and because of some ongoing dispute over supplies with the EU we are likely to experience a shortage this month. We are told that despite this everyone expecting their second dose will be catered for and I should get mine around the end of this month,

Even so, we in the UK still have supplies left and they are trying to get as many people in their 50s to take it (calling all of them to book in) and also trying to complete the second dose for those that have already had there the first dose.
End of the day I think that they need to delay people till others had their second dose since young people are not at high risk. Glad that my household family who is in their 70s are having their second dose in the next two weeks 🙂 and I will be happy, and after that, we can start thinking about going out more 🙂
Even that I had not had my dose, it does not matter and not important since I can't give it t them since they had the Pfizer 😉
I'm not sure what the differences are between Moderna Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine is. I have had my jab, and I would suggest all the people who are against it get it done and help stop the spread of COVID. We don't want COVID in this time next year

To be honest I was just grateful to get a jab and didn't really care what it was. Any sort of protection is better than nothing. Eventually I think everyone will give in and get the jab. There was resistance to the smallpox and polio jab to begin with but there are very few who would refuse it now for their children.
I agree and I'm pro vaccination. I was told horror stories in school about Polio and how many people it killed. I just don't buy the whole "it's against my religion" thing. Personally I've had flu and have been sick more times than I can count. That's why I'd rather just settle for getting a shot.

I was born in 1950. The first polio jab was administered in 1954 so I could have got it. There was a girl in our street who had her legs in calipers where she had the disease. She could never run and play like other children and used to look from her garden gate at the rest of us. I will always be grateful to my parents for getting me vaccinated against horrible diseases. I have everything that's available to me these days and remain in very good health.
