I'm considering selling Eclectic Pagan Paths, however I have no idea how to valuate it...

Its PR1, revenue is roughly £50 a month, avarage stats are as follows -

Average registrations per day: 1.89
Average posts per day: 108.95
Average topics per day: 9.13

Total stats at the moment are -

Total Members: 243
Total Posts: 14216
Total Topics: 1131

Its been open for 7 - 8 months and has a good solid userbase.

How much do you think its worth?

Through Supporting Memberships (which isnt a regular revenue) and a course, its started every two months and so far has got at least 5 people signed up each time.

There's also a Facebook group, a Twitter Page and a wordpress blog (with its own domain) which would be included in the sale.

I contacted you a few months ago on TAZ, was gonna offer to buy it off you.. you never ever replied to me *sobs* LOL

Anyways, while I have no idea what the potential cost of the site would be, I would be interested in talking to you about it 😉

Oops! Sorry I never got back to you! I decided not to sell at that time but things have changed.

I would definately be interested in chatting to you about it though, drop me a PM or email 🙂

No worries, I'm just teasing 😀 I figured circumstances had changed.

I believe you're on the staff over at PE - I'm Lisa on there, so I'll catch up with you there 😀

Ok sounds good!

Still want to hear what people think about valuating a forum 🙂

It's a pretty small forum. If you're looking to sell I would grow it up a bit first. There's a site somewhere that sort of auto-estimates a website's value, I think it goes solely on traffic and it put my forum at around $15,000. And that's really not that much. I wish I could remember what that site is but bear in mind it's all automated so the values may be off.

I'm not selling it to make the money - I'm selling it because I dont want it anymore. I just want to make sure I sell it for what its worth.

I did a search for website value calculators and one came up with an estimate of $635.1 USD

Just got another site to estimate the value and it came up with $1,090 USD

It is very hard to valuate a forum as what someone value it as is one thing but getting someone to pay that is another. Everyone will have alot of different opinions on the valuation.

I'm not very good at this, but around $100 or so? Nothing more than $300 though.
EDIT: How many uniques per day?

I agree, around $125 or so
I don't agree.

Its up to the buyer. If the buyer believes in the forum or believes that they can do something, or add value to it, they could go for a top price in their budget. If someone sees potential, they will go for it.

From seeing forums sell, I would say you'd get ~$220 with that niche (assuming the buyer is interested in that niche).

Oh, in that case I'd just try it around what it says the value is then, maybe start at $1000 and if you get no takers just keep whittling it down. Even a few extra hundred bucks is sweet 🙂

$1000 for any forum is seriously expensive though. For a site that's not getting that much activity yet, that's way too high. I wouldn't even sell a forum for that much.

Consider this. I own the domain google.com. I go sell it, just the domain. $1000 wouldn't be reasonable, maybe $100 thousand. Add the database and you've got $100 million or so.

But, for that forum, $1000 would be plenty. I would aim for $120 to $300.

What all do you take into consideration when deciding to sell a site? I've never sold a forum for real money, only for forum bucks. I don't plan on selling my forum either, this is just a general question.

From what I've seen, people consider:
1. The domain itself, if its premium, the length, the age, the PR and the extension.
2. Forum statistics, visitors, unique visitors and daily content.
3. Content and the quality of it.
4. Revenue and potential revenue.
5. People's personal preference and need. If someone really likes it and wants it, then they will make sure they get it.
