I have a spare vbulletin 4 license. I do not want to sell it but am willing to rent it out to the highest bidder, this deal also includes hosting on a not very crowded dedicated server. Although the vb license does and always will belong to me, you will own the database and are free to migrate away to your own hosting deal at any time. (Of course you will need your own vb license). I will install the forum and if you wish maintain it but you will get your own hosting cpanel if you wish to do this yourself. I will let this run for a while and you can pm me with bids and the highest bidder gets the forum. I have a reserve of £5gbp/month so please bid above this. You will need your own domain, however I do have a number of premium domains and if you don't have/want a domain registrar, I can register a domain for you for £15gbp/year.

PS this is not on the same server as my free hosted forum bussiness

Re: Vbulletin 4X plus hosting

Have you checked with vBulletin's terms and conditions?
I have an inner feeling they don't permit renting licenses.

Re: Vbulletin 4X plus hosting

You can't sell or transfer your license, that is why I am doing it this way, as long as I own the forum it doesn't matter who the administrator is, and the database has nothing to do with vb so the new admin would own that.

How much?

Highest bid. PM your offer.

(the premium domain has a start price of £100GBP and the vb + hosting bids start at £5GBP/month other two domains just highest bid.)

You can actually sell and transfer a license, 1 transfer per license. So you can sell it once, but no more than that. Meaning whoever buys it is stuck with it. I have bought about 5 already. You simply submit a ticket to vbulletin support and they will ask for information from you about the buyer to transfer it.

Fair point but you would never get what it's worth due to vb 5 being out and only costing $50 more than I paid for my vb 4 license.

No, no one in their right mind would pay anywhere near retail price for a digital license and take the risk of being scammed by someone. There's people who I have bought licenses from though for around $100, so you do take a hit on the license if you sell it, but you still make a chunk back. Mainly people who switch from vbulletin to other forum softwares such as Xenforo.

I will just stick to the original plan of renting the forum along with managed hosting. urljet charge about $20/month for managed vb hosting on their crowded shared server and that's without a vb license. So starting price of £5 ($8) month is fair for both, and as mentioned earlier you get own cpanel so migrate the database if things are not working out.

Says who? You can sell it if it has not been sold before. A Vb license can only be sold and transferred once after that game over...And I would check that renting a Vb license you maybe in violation of their TOS and lose the license for good. I would say your treading on thin ice with this stunt.
