Hey guys. I'm using vBulletin for my forum right now and I was just wondering should I use switch to IP. Board or just stay with vBulletin and why. Thanks to all who helps me!

I really don't like vB, forums using the software never seem to look good and also there has been reports of security holes in the software as well. IPB forums always look nice and they come with loads of built in features needed for a site. I really like IPB forums.

Ipb. because i dont think anyone can be sure of vbulletins future, just the other day ib switched the vbulletin.com support forums to the new beta and it failed horribly leaving users unable to post..

Did you see the new ipb demo? ive gotta say it looks amazing. Invision power have big things planned and they are certainly a forum software to keep watching over the next few months, vbulletin are heading in the opposite direction of other forum software. Get out while you can 😉

vBulletin is overpriced and it's not really worth it, I would say go with IP.Board or Xenforo.

IP.Board IMO is better, but if you've already brought vB then there's no need to switch and waste even more $

Man IPB all the way. vB really has let me down. IPB has some great themes and mods. vB barely has cool mods.

He could sell his vB license and use that money to fund an IPB license. Thats what I did. 😎

However, I doubt you could get very much for a vB license nowadays. Their rep has gone down the toilet. 😛

I would sell it off and get an IPB license or XenForo if you wanted 🙂

Those two are the top contenders right now.

If you want IPB, wait for 3.2, which comes out later. From what I've played around with, IPB 3.2 is certainly going to be a big improvement over 3.1. Otherwise, XenForo is also a good option because Kier would know vBulletin better than Matt.

True but yeah that and people will try and scam, unless you find a reputable buyer.

Don't you think they would notice that when testing it?

I would go with IPB as well, They seem to be a lot more "in" with the customers and gives out a lot more info that vBulletin does. (Meaning like their staff blog)

IPB... Simply because vB's development has started to become... crap... LOL IPB is growing fast which usually means some nice mods and themes coming. My other complaint with vB is the pricing of mods... Some mods cost nearly as much as the forum... Not worth it IMO. But of course it comes down to what you're comfortable with.

I would also Suggest IPB or Xenforo over VB. I have to agree I have been a long time follower of IPB and VB both but VB is going down hill fast. VB use to be resource heavy at one point but they cleaned that up now it seems to be stuck at where it should go. Xenforo has a huge future and so does IPB.

I hate vB4. I used vB3 previously and got hacked through a plugin, made the switch to IP.Board and don't think i'll be looking back anytime soon. 🙂

vBulletin seems to be far more bulky and more of a load on server resources. I do prefer IPB I have to say.

I would ditch vB and move to XenForo. XenForo is made by the old vB developers. XenForo is fast and is starting to become popular.

Wow I never knew that Rule! My next paid software will be Xenforo it has really impressed me.

Why did you think IB tried to sue them?
