vBulletin or IPB ?

Hey, I'm just wondering which is the best to buy? I dont care about the cost but which is the best software? When you post your decission please back it up by displaying features which the other doesint have or watever... thanks

IPB, is better in my opinion.

Reasons:

Prior to the release of IPB 3.0.x VB has had an advantage over IPB, but since 3.0.x as been released VB has got nothing on IPB.

1. IPB is cheaper.
2. They've installed this option where you can link your database to their servers where they've got a list of emails/usernames/IP address which are associated with spams etc. and it automatically bans them before they even register to your site.
3. IPB comes with SEO'd URLs, you've got to pay $100 for this on VB.
4. IPB is more user friendly in my opinion, it's tidy, clean and provides easy to access features when you need them.
5. The profile system is much better then VB, it's simple and has a great "wow" effect.
6. IPB's support is great, VB is good to but IPB's is better.

Both IPB & VB are very customizable, the only downside to IPB is that there are more mods for VB.

Just a few basic ones for me, now this is just my opinion and alot of people will agree/disagree so don't judge your decision on my points, or anyone's points for that matter, test out the software before you buy it (both IPB and VB have demos) then see which one you like best 😉.

Both have a wide variety of mods and skins for free, you need a valid customer account to get them though 😉.

I can tell you right now. 😛 If you want a good software go with vBulletin! It has the best styles and mods for any forums, unless your making a promotion forums, if your making a promotion forums use phpbb3. 😉

I use IPB for a promotion forum. (YourAdPromotion.com) and it works out really nice. I have bought both IPB and Vbulletin but I prefer IPB. 😉 If you want full features of each, visit the company sites and then compare.

IPB has some great features, easy modification installer, multi-topic moderation, easy skin installations, simple to make forums. There are a lot of things thats still good about VB but me, personally, I chose IPB.

vBulletin has each of them.

And it also has more styles and mods. vB is amazing and is far more user friendly, feature rich and useful.

You'll see that by a long shot here: http://www.big-boards.com/statistics/ vBulletin is used by 4.8 TIMES more big boards than IPB.

It all depends on the person who is gonna be the admin.

IMO IPB is better then Vbulliten due to its tools and it always being ahead in the game.

I have used both, and IPB is MUCH MUCH better. Looks cleaner, simple mod installation, more streamlined, AMAZING ACP, etc. Just trust me, IPB is better.

IPB has more of a "web 2.0" and community feel in my opinion, Might infact be ordering it soon but anyway Vbulletin is better for a webmaster site or a more professional site, I also find IPB a bit faster than VB, plus with VB you can get community hosting from them without a big investment in the license.

IPB 3 is great, but I still prefer vBulletin. And once vB 4 is released, IPB will be left in the dust. 🙂

IPB is better, vBulletin is just left in the web 0.5 dark copying it's features. Change of management, rise in prices and more transferring from vBulletin to IPB is proof. I wouldn't say vBulletin has a more friendly community at all, Invision Power's forum is packed with friendly experts.

Saying vBulletin is ran on bigger boards is irrelevant, how can you take the size of a forum and say how good the software is because of post counts?

Most people just say vB because it was good, but with the release of IPB 3, IPB absolutely smashes VB.
