Okay, I'd like to be somewhat high tech, WITHOUT having to link to a bank account for now, to accept other payments besides cash for my Rummage Sale.

Which type of account do you think more people would use if they don't want to pay for things with cash?

Pros? Cons? Etc... help?

I think Venmo would be better. Unless you get a Venmo card, you do have to link a bank account or a debit card to be able to transfer the money over to your bank account unless you just use tap to pay with a virtual Venmo card…. I’ve never used Zelle, I’ve had too many scam experiences in the past who only wanted to use that so that’s completely turned me away from it. We’ve got multiple gas stations and people who have little boxes at their homes that they sell some things from that have the Venmo QR code and it’s very convenient.

Zelle can be convenient because a lot of banks have it as a built in feature. A lot more people have Venmo though.

Never used Zelle, but I feel like Venmo or CashApp are a couple of the more popular options. At PetSmart, our groomers and bathers can get tips for their services, but unfortunately, our system doesn't allow customers to add tips when paying for their service. They do have a lot of people who will bring cash for tips, but they also have a little board in the salon that has all of their names and their QR codes for their Venmos and/or CashApps, so the customers can tip virtually too, which is nice in case the groomer or bather isn't immediately available at the time the owner is picking up their pet. Not sure how often exactly it gets used since I'm only ever in there to help when needed, but I know I've had people ask about it when checking out at the registers.

Like Allena said, you do have to link a bank account or debit card to get the money from the accounts, but from my experience, it's been a relatively easy process. I haven't done much transferring out of the accounts as I don't use either that often, but when I have had to transfer money from Venmo or CashApp to my bank account, the money's been in the account within a couple days at most. There's an option to have the money transferred faster, but there's a fee associated with it (at least with smaller amounts, unsure about larger amounts). It's been a while since I've set my accounts up, but I think you can skip the set up for linking a bank account or debit card when you first set up the account(s).

I think it's definitely worth having a virtual payment option of your choosing available though! I feel like a lot of people these days tend to pay with cards more than they pay with cash, so it might help with sales if you have at least one of the options available.
