On July 1, 2010, VeriSign®, the registry for .COM and .NET, will increase prices – .COM will go up 7%, and .NET by 10%.

Personally speaking, I don't see the need to raise their prices. They make a set amount of money per domain per year, which should be more than enough to pay for their services... What do you think of this increase? Will you pay the price and move on, or will you stop buying new .com domains and explore other TLD choices in the future?

I personaly only buy around 5 domains a year so its not much of a big deal to me. But some of the big Domain giants could loose money :O

It's not too uncommon, verisign is a pretty bad company for a number of reasons, not the worst they do.

Agreed. I'll just continue as I do, not much that can be done. It's just a shame that the TLD's hold so much value.

I very rarely buy domains so it doesn't bother me but these things happen. Most companies tend to raise prises whenever they can.

Well at least they didn't raise .fm prices. Then again they're expensive enough as it is 😛

Meh, I don't plan on buying any domains in the imminent future. This probably won't affect me much.

.info is going to be the next .com
no, because .info has already gotten a reputation of being a shite extension due to all the crap adsense sites made because of it's price.
