Under this system, search queries are run through a vast knowledge database that discovers relationships with other words and facts. A Mountain View exec explained it thus: If you search for "Lake Tahoe", you won't just get ranked websites containing those two words but also key attributes about the lake, such as its location, altitude, average temperature and Bigfoot population.

The new semantic search will save users some time by not have to click on a search result to find the answer for simple question like "How many inches are in a foot?", and if they want to learn more about the question they can click on the web results underneath.
People also might spend more time on Google on Google Docs, gmail, google reader, YouTube, Google Plus, etc instead of visiting other sites in their search results to find the answer since they get a short answer on the search result.
I'm not sure how this will affect traffic to websites like dictionary, and simple fact websites like "Time websites which show the time in different countries" since people can just search for definitions and get the result in Google.
