YouTube is shelling out $100 million to producers, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The money is an advance on advertising money the videos will bring in, and Google will recoup its portion first before splitting the proceeds. Advances are as high as $5 million per channel, said another person familiar with the arrangement, also speaking on condition of anonymity.

I'm not sure if this will be very good for the average YouTube member who just want people to watch their video blogs, user generated content, and short films since now a lot of video creators will have a lot harder time getting on the front page or featured section since the front page with real celebrities.

Yeah it kinda doesn't make much sense to do it since the place is supposed to be for the average person a good deal of the time. I hope all this money spending is worth it.

I think the money should go to the average YouTube member who wants to make quality videos for cash rather then hiring Madonna, Ashton Kutcher, Shaq the Basketball Player, etc since I think Madonna and Shaq might make it harder for new YouTubers in the music, comedy, sports, and other sections from building an audience if they do not already have one when they have to compete against Ashton Kutcher in the Comedy most viewed section.

This also might make other popular video sharing websites like Dailymotion, Vimeo, Blip.tv, and Break become less popular since users on those websites will just go to YouTube to watch actual celebrities on YouTube.

Might as well me http://www.GoogleTube.com
