Just wondering if anyone here has used a Virtual Desktop?
I have it at work but I haven't added it to my laptop just yet. I used Veskpot or something like that I forget, really good though.

I use Virtual Box for all my virtual OS needs. I run Ubuntu and XP very nicely.

EDIT: mistook virtual desktop for remote desktop 😛

Well I was thinking of putting Virtual PC on the computer just so I could try out Ubuntu ^-^ If I liked it I would continue on to double boot the comp.

For any productive reason though no I have not used a virtual desktop.

Gah, I have a remote set up to connect to the server at my office at work so I can create/edit/modify even back up files on my laptop anywhere.

I've done it in the past to try out different linuxs, but I never really got into liking linux. Can't play games like windows can, so I went back to windows and stopped using virtual desktops/machines.

Virtual Desktops allow you to have more than 1 desktop

I used the Windows version of Remote desktop. I find it kind of confusing since you have to know the IP and user acount password of the machine you are logging into, firewall sometimes block remote desktop, the machine has to be on, and it seems like a waste of electricity since your PC has to be on 24/7 to wait for you to logon.

I prefer using https://www.dropbox.com/ or Google'docs which are both cloud online storage program which stores your files online, but dropbox also store your files locally on your dropbox folder for your user account and using programs installed on my machine.

Dropbox gives you 2GB while Google Doc's has a limit of 1GB.

Oh. Well I've not really done that either.

I don't. I would if Mac OS X would work. Then I could use Logic Pro on mah PC... 🙁

By Virtual Desktop do you mean virtual machine?

I have four virtual desktops over here. I only use them when I have more then 1 program open though.

It's fun to play with virtual desktops, but I wouldn't really use them for much other than playing. 😉

Not sure. I never really have been clear. I am talking about having multiple desktops.

Nah never used them, never seen the point ha ha... If I need another desktop I'd jack in another screen. 😉

We use VMWare Fusion on our Mac to run other versions of Mac OS X, like servers, or Windows. Runs very nicely, and you can switch between them like you would any program.

Virtual desktops and virtual PC's are different things mate...

I find virtual PCs too slow to use on my computer with 1GB of RAM. I rather just dual boot.

I can only have a max of 3 GB of RAM without selling my 2 x 512MB sticks since HP decided to use 512 MBs RAM modules/sticks and I only have 4 RAM slots on my motherboard.

My laptop has 4GB of RAM, but the CPU is a mobile AMD CPU, so it also runs Virtual PCs pretty slowly in many cases.
