I prefer using a dual boot computer which can start into two or more operating systems since virtualization on a Virtual PC like Virtualbox is slow on my computer with just 1GB of RAM running on Windows 7.

Plus, I notice 3D does not work in Virtual PCs for me.

It depends on your needs.

If you dont need to use your other operating system very often, then DualBoot is perfect.

Dualboot is also great if your on a low spec machine.

Virtual machines are great if you need to run multiple OS's at once, or you need to change OS's frequently. Like running a server on a virtual machine is perfect, it saves money on buying a seperate box and you can use your OS at the same time.

One isnt better than the other, they both have diffrent uses for diffrent peoples needs.

Ill too prefer a dual boot pc because dual boot pc have equal hardware resources for both the operating system and dual boot OS give me feel of working on a real pc unlike virtual pc which makes me feel like Iam working on a simulator with sluggish performance

Indeed, this is one of the main reasons I prefer Dual boot since it does not feel like a simulator of an OS with slow performance. Plus, I find moving files from my Virtual PC to my host PC kind of hard since I need to make a shared folder, or configure my Virtual PC to recognize USB drive.

I use virtual machines for environments that must be protected (e.g. testing machines) and dual boot for systems that... well... "are my home" (I hope you understand) and which I really use (and it's where I have all the documents and my own settings).

I have Ubuntu and Windows 7 on the same HDD, but I only use Ubuntu since my Windows 7, although it still boots, it's getting more broken every time it is used. And at the end, I like Linux more than Windows (it also fulfills better my development and hacking environment requirements).

I use Oracle VirtualBox. It's very useful when you need to delve into system properties like I do. I'm a Microsoft technician in training. At least then if I mess up some system properties all I need to do is restore the virtual machine and not the actual operating system. 🙂

In most of the cases dual boot will fit me for sure

Re: Virtual machine/PC or Dual boot computer what do you pre

I dislike dual-boot as I can only run one at once. I dislike VMs as they slow down my system to slug paced. I'm still waiting for when computers can emulate software in another dimension to prevent slowness occurring.

Isn't Dual boot means that you boot more than OS. But not two current OS running the sametime.

That is correct, sir.

If I have the space, and the money, I prefer to use a KVM switch which supports two or more computers, so I can quickly switch from one computer to another with a push of a switch while using the same Keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

KVMs are awesome. I remember a place I used to work at where we had two rack-mount KVM 16 switches.
