Visual Basic - Why do people hate it?

Well I say coding in VB is alot more elevated than programing in a language like Alice(Its drag and drop based). My friend insists that it is a programming language but its not. I told him to try c# or c but he just won't.

To the question. I think VB is a solid language for beginners but you will never get a job where you get to program in Vb all day. Thats why people prefer c. There's money in it.
LOL! Alice. xD My teacher forced my class to use that in Yr12 IT. I absolutely hated it because I didn't learn a thing from it. My friend and I used to complain about it on Dashing a lot, seeing as we'd be spending most of our class time on the forums rather than doing the work. (The work was relatively easy anyway). Bearing that in mind, we were still ranked second and third in the class respectively. (One of us would have been ranked first if, y'know, we felt like it).

I guess I'm glad that my Uni forced me to learn C as my first language. Sure, it's a pain, but at least I'm actually 'learning' something from it.

I don't really dislike Visual Basic that much, but it's kinda limited. (All it can really do is make windows applications).

I remember back when I was in College people hated VB because they were failing or close to failing the class because they were not trying hard enough to learn the concepts, or for other reasons like they just didn't understand the concepts.

The exams and assignments were open book exams, so if you do not know the code. You can refer to the book.
