Hi FP!

Looking for suggestions for VPS and/or dedicated servers for a string of WordPress powered sites.

Particularly keen on hosts ran by FP members and are away from the big names. Currently with OVH and hate their customer service and attitude towards customers.

If you run a server hosting company comment below and I'll check you out 🙂

Looking for around 4-6 cores, minimum 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD storage

I use Amazon Web Services, very cheap and works amazing!

I'd check out Linode, haven't ever had an issue with their support (ticketing or IRC support channel), and their uptime and response time is pretty good for how cheap it is.

I'm not fond of cloud hosting - I like to have 'bare metal' servers that I can manage directly from the command line and have root access to 🙂
far enough 🙂 Still checkout hawkhost as they offer that. hostgator is another 😛 but I do not think that you would go with them hehehe

A VPS (virtual private server) or dedicated server can offer businesses many advantages, such as control, security, and reliability. However, not all servers are created equal. Here are some features to look for when choosing a VPS or dedicated server:

1. Control: Make sure you have root access to your server so you can install and configure whatever software you need.

2. Security: Look for a provider that uses firewalls and other security measures to protect your data.

3. Reliability: Choose a provider with a good track record of uptime and reliability.

For level of control you could always use a cloud platform to launch dedicated or cloud servers with root access. the 4 i have used and one of them i still do use for over 10 years now

LiquidWeb
- they are fantastic with support and servers but can be a bit pricey but the support you get is probably the best i have come across.
AWS
- only use what you need and again is fantastic when it comes to choosing the correct resources you need
Digital Ocean
- same as above great service and only pay for what services you need from databases etc
IONOS
- if you are not really bothered about support and can manage a server then their cloud and dedicated servers will be at a nice price thats not too high and have always run spot on for me.

You can send an email to a potential web hosting service and judge their customer service, firsthand.

Because there are so many hosting companies accessible nowadays, choosing the correct one is critical. I believe you should first focus on your requirements. Among the various web hosting companies, those that can offer or satisfy all of your needs at a reasonable price are the ones you should consider as your future hosting provider.
If you're searching for dependable, low-cost web hosting with round-the-clock assistance, WHUK is the way to go.

I use Amazon Web Services, very cheap and works amazing!
VPS and dedicated server are both options.
A virtual private server, also known as a VPS, is a type of web hosting that combines shared and dedicated servers. On the other hand, a shared server will have multiple customers who will share all of the server's resources. This is in contrast to a dedicated server, which will only host one customer on the entire server.

I can recommend you try to compare rates, features, compatibility, performance, and reliability.

How many customers are on each server?
Not 100% certainly honestly but i do know they use CloudHosting which is your own space in the same network.

I no longer use Amazon now though.

Look at your current usage and double it at least, triple is even better because coming half way through the month and running out of bandwidth is probable the worst thing you can do for your website, your users will probable desert you, if they see it isn’t online for a day or two.

Ensure to see what's actually included in that cheap web page hosting plan.
Be sure you know what you're getting for your money so you can plan your web hosting operating cost wisely.

To compete in the market, most web hosting providers are already offering affordable website hosting plans.
One can right away find quality affordable website hosting plans or packages on the internet in just a matter of few minutes.

Beyond finding which web hosts are out there, it's a matter of digging through different plans and checking customer reviews.
