Oh wow, I can remember when vB was about 1.2% a four or so years ago. This is probably mostly due to the web growing (especially Wordpress) and partly due to the forum market shrinking.
vB, phpBB, Discuz, XF, IPS (although not really just the forum) and MyBB are the only forum systems with 0.1% CMS market-share or more.
They are all going down, it seems except for Discourse which is going up, although slowly (it likely has a fair bit of room for growth compared to the larger players who hit maturity a long time ago):
This might not seem by much, but MyBB went down about a fifth in 2017.
