I worked at Walmart for more than 7 years. It was, at times, a terrible place to work and had so many idiots and Karens walk through the doors. I do like shopping at Walmart in terms of getting decent sales, but I prefer Target as I like the overall atmosphere better and sometimes they have more unique items. We have a Walmart in our town, but no Target. We do have many Targets in the metroplex, though.
I prefer Target myself, Walmart is okay but I used to work in the dairy department at Walmart and man you'd get some nasty people at times. My wife and I call Target tarjay sometimes for the lols.
I like to say Walmart gives me irrational anger. When I used to go in regularly, there would always be shoppers blocking the aisles and just so many people being inconsiderate of others. The prices aren't bad, but just the overall atmosphere of the store makes me not want to shop there. I still shop there on occasion, but it's very rare, especially since they stopped being 24 hours. I used to go super late at night/really early in the morning (like 11pm-4am) to avoid the crowds. Longer wait time in line because they'd only have one cashier, and if there was someone doing their entire grocery shopping at that time, you'd have to wait, but I'd rather that than the craziness of the day. bring back 24 hour places
I shop Target more frequently though, partly because of the convenience (it's literally right next door to where I work and pretty much across the street from where I live, so it's not a long drive, though neither is Walmart really) and partly because I like the variety and quality of the products there more. I also get better deals at Target compared to Walmart when it comes to things I'm buying, so I can save more money and bank rewards to use for a big purchase later (or just to get a really good deal on stuff).
For groceries though, between Walmart and Target, I'd definitely do Walmart. I check expiration dates on everything I buy, and my local Target has had several items that were expired on their shelves still and it's just a big turn off of doing a big grocery haul there. I do buy some things there on occasion, if I'm already in there and need to grab a few things or if I'm grabbing lunch at work (the cafe in there is hit or miss about being open these days and I don't always want Starbucks lol), but I wouldn't ever do whole grocery hauls in there.
Walmart for sure. As someone who has seen the backroom of hundreds of locations of both of these retailers, Walmart is ran significantly better. I've never been to a Target that wasn't a disaster. Not to mention pricing. Target is expensive, especially with their groceries.
You all should see my local Walmart that's in town and there is an area for the Amish to park their horses and buggies. Once the women get inside, do you know what they do? They heads straight for the bathrooms. LOL
This Walmart is super clean and well stocked. It's so different from the ones back in Indiana that were a complete mess.
