I think the difference here is that Ancient Egypt was just as powerful as Rome. In a fight I would say Egypt would have won. My reasoning is that the roman army was very controlled, and formed clusters of troops when under attack. Egypt had chariot's like the Romans did but it was the Egyptians that really knew how to use them in combat.
