Warentless Wiretapping/Monitoring of Email

Actually google the E-Privacy act. They have limited powers over email.
Learned that in Honors E-Commerce class 😛

The USA PATRIOT Act more or less gives them access to anything they want.

lol do you know what you're talking about? I'm in a constitutional law major, I had a class that was DEDICATED to the Patriot Act. I assure you, they do not have access to "pretty much anything" lol

Quick addition: It's a good idea to actually read these acts and write to your politicians with problems you find. Do not believe everything thats on TV, you'll find yourself going loony with the rest of the conspiracy theory nutjobs.

...Also, lest FP swing the hammer at me, I should inform them that I'm the type that will bring legal action against them for "religious persecution" if they decide to ban me for what I said above....
Jedi Penguin, I haven't read this topic or your post, however your threat came to my attention and I'd like you to know that I don't appreciate threats against FP.
Yeah and FP can do whatever they want; they're a private website. They can ban people for any reason they like, same as any other forum or website on the internet. Freedom of religion doesn't carry over to someone's private establishment like FP.

Ok, then, in that case, what's to stop a site from banning all people who are Chinese or are black?

Also, just because a site CAN do something doesn't mean it won't get a bad rep from the general public if it does it.

Nuff said.

1st Amendment protects things we agree with, and things we disagree with too. I'm thankful for that though since as long as bigots like that can have a website other people on the other side of the spectrum can exist too.

What political party do you support?

Your icon says:

"Democrats suck.
Republicans suck more."

Do you support the Tea Party?

Oh god no, I am definitely not a tea bagger xD

Pirate party, but that avatar is a joke more than anything, I think there are a lot of people in both of those parties that suck but there is good to be had in both... somewhere.

I don't believe "everything that's on TV." I just know that it gives the FBI unprecedented access to spy on "suspected terrorists." What's a suspected terrorist, exactly? It's not a good idea to give any government that kind of power.

The argument that "only wrongdoers need to be afraid" is ludicrous as well. Part of having civil liberties is extending them to people who might use them to do bad things. That's a reality that everyone has to accept if we want a limited government.

Didn't one of the Founding Fathers,I'm assuming Jefferson, say that those who trade liberty for security deserve neither?

That quote belongs to Ben Franklin and not Thomas Jefferson.

I live for the day N Koreans rebel. Though it would be devastating if they fail.
They will never rebel. They are all taught from birth to obey their leaders and most of them are under the impression that they have the greatest government around. There was a whole CNN special on it where a reporter got to go there and talk to people.

First, and most importantly, Katy Perry IS Hot! Second, the exact same thing could have been said about Russian's in the U.S.S.R. 30 year's ago. And why did the citizens say those things to a reporter, same reason the Russian's said it 30 year's ago. It's a reporter, it will be reported. If you had a choice between saying what your told to say and being executed which would you pick?

Sorry about the hijacking. What Justin M said:
"He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security." -
Benjamin Franklin.
