I really like the theme, but I think it is missing something on the top. I am used to seeing links of some sort on the top. Your theme obviously does not have any and that makes it look pretty clean, but I think it would be okay to add some sort of Nav bar or at least links to important pages.

Have you considered getting rid of some of the extra space between the Guest login/register links and the start of the forum design?
Here's what I am talking about.

It might be good to make your affiliate bar (at the bottom) be stationary instead of a marquee animation effect. Having them moving can mess up with cross compatibility between devices, especially mobile devices and tablets. Since you don't have enough affiliates to fill up the whole bottom bar, maybe keep it stationary until you have too many and have to have them moving?

I think another good section for your forum could be about showing off your Warhammer pieces. Many serious Warhammer players and collectors probably have hundreds of painted models. There might be some that they are super proud of, or they could have nice environments sets that they want to show off. You should add a section for that 🙂 Another interesting section could be about the best ways to paint Warhammer models or even how to play the game, for newer players!

I would maybe think about getting a new theme or design for the forum as I don't think it looks that good and I think there is a spacing issue with the header as your logo overlaps with some of the header part. I would also recommend that you work on content for your site, maybe post a few threads yourself and other staff so that it encourages people to join in those discussions 😉

Hey there! 🙂

I'm not a really big fan of that theme you have going to be honest. I think maybe a premium theme or something a long those lines would work a lot better. I also don't think the banner you have going looks too good. It actually just looks a bit awkward because the whole galaxy print doesn't really tie into your theme.

You might even want to consider changing some of your forum names to something flashy. For example, you could change 'Literature' in the category 'Warhammer 40,000' to something like 'The Warhammer Library' and do so with the rest of them. This really gives each forum their own special individuality and it also adds more personality to the whole board itself. When looking at the main index, it seems pretty bare towards the top. The two categories 'Warhammer 40,000' and 'Science Fiction' also repeat themselves just with different descriptions. This does not look too exciting and almost looks as if you were maybe just a tad bit lazy with it (but hey, we all are a little bit lazy haha.). I think you should take my idea mentioned above about make each forum stand out from each other by giving them unique names. This could also work for the category names too so they aren't so generic. You could change 'Warhammer 40,000' to 'Warhammer Realm' or something along those lines. Anything you can do to not make the two categories look duplicate is fine. Also, spice up your descriptions a little bit more. They, too, seem to be very repetitive and bland.

That's about all I really have to say. Other than that, your forum doesn't look too bad! Good luck with it! :great:

Warhammer 40k is based in the future where people take over planets and engage in intergalactic battles across many planets. So the header image of the galaxy print works fine.

Actually, the "galaxy theme" does kind of tie in what the nice` of the forum. Like Ashley stated before me, the main niche` of the forum is about super engineered humans called space marines or adeptus astartes, are sent across the galaxy to expand in the name of the Emperor of Mankind. But you are allowed to express your own thoughts and I respect that.

Thank you everyone that has offered up ideas so far. I will be trying to incorporate some of them (if I haven't already) into my forum. Thank you!

I have to agree with Teapot about the banner not matching with the theme. I get the niche, however it just looks tacky as of right now. Something that goes with the theme, as well as expands through the whole header space would work quite nicely, even if you had the current header stretched so that it took away the black space where the header image should be.

A new header image would be nice, because right now it's just a little image and a ton of wasted space in the top.

That I can understand. I can see about getting a different banner that takes up more space at the top. However, I disagree with the fact that the "space theme" going with the niche` of the forum.

Yes, this I understand. I have nothing against using anything galaxy and I surely understand that it fits your forums niche. However, I think you could definitely go about it in a different matter. Instead of having it in the banner, consider maybe making the whole entire forum background galaxy themed. With the galaxy print in the actual banner, it's definitely way too large and doesn't flow into the theme like it usually should. Consider making a logo with a transparent background too so it will then compliment the galaxy print moved to the back. 🙂

My forum does have a nav bar, by the way. (I don't mean that to sound like I'm being mean. I apologize if it does sound that way.)

Do you want to find it yourself or do you want me to tell you where it is?

I really like your theme. WarHammer is based upon a science fiction universe (in the movie), and from your galaxy header, to the glowing category separators, your theme does a great job of reminding me of space. While the majority of your theme does a great job of reminding me of space, I'm rather confused by the bar above your header. I'm not sure what the bar is supposed to accomplish, and it almost feels like wasted space on your forum's header. I would recommend that you remove it, especially seeing that it's at the top of your forum, and it'd be one of the first things a guest would see upon their first visit.

The other thing that I'd recommend changing is your affiliate system. An affiliate system is a great way to gain exposure, and it's good advertising. However, the moving affiliate buttons feel a bit strange. They seem to distract me from the actual content of your forum, and instead they make me feel inclined to look at a few slow moving affiliate images. I'd highly recommend that you stop the affiliate animation until your affiliate image spots fill up and you need them to move for the extra space.

Your forum is the first WarHammer forum I've ever seen. While I've never gone looking for a forum of this specific nature, it's still rather rare to have a forum that isn't a daily pop up on FP. 'Niche aside, WarHammer needs to be prouder of its name. Under the category "The World of WarHammer" all of your names aside "WarHammer Library" seem to be rather generic, and I recommend you fix that. If you take your time and put some thought into it, it's not that hard to come up with some original forum names. Even doing something as basic as calling them "WarHammer Entertainment" would be more original and creative than the generic names that currently inhabit WarHammer.

You've done a great job making sure your announcements and category descriptions are written in proper English. It's fairly obvious by reading them that you've taken your time writing them to ensure that anyone can read them. I only found one major grammatical error on WarHammer. For the category "WarHammer 40k Show Case" it should be "WarHammer 40k Showcase". "Showcase" should be one word, instead of two.

Final Remarks
WarHammer 40k is off to a very good start. If you fix a few things which I mentioned above, I see no reason why your forum couldn't succeed. Best of luck!

I've taken your suggestion to heart about the affiliate banner and I've made it stationary. I will do like you said and keep it that way, until I've at least filled up the line. I'm going to see if I can't work on some of the other things you mentioned, now that that is taken care of. Thank you for your review, PoH.

Please tell me where it is because I just triple checked and can't find it

I would change that if I were you or make the Menu words larger. I looked at your site twice before my original comments and three times after with the sole intention to find the nav bar and couldn't find it. I got great vision, I'm attentive and I am intelligent, and I still couldn't find the nav bar so I can imagine your members might have trouble finding it too.

It's untraditional, so maybe that's why I couldn't find it. Navbars to me are usually horizontal and in plain site. Your Menu button is more of a Menu button / drop down than a nav bar.

I'm in the process of adding more themes to the forum. I've just added one and in the process of adding two more. Plus, I have two different themes I plan to use for special occasions (i.e. certain holidays). Hopefully, everybody will be able to find a theme out of the ones being provided if they don't like using that one due to the nav bar being "unusual".
