Lately myself my staff and a few other admins have been dealing with an issue involving Copyright Infringement.

Akiss the admin of http://theemeraldrain.forumotion.com has been going to forums stealing content.

Now he mostly targets Pokémon forums but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't protect yourselves.

I just thought it'd be best to post this here because I could get the warning out to alot of forums at once.

Again here's what you should be looking out for.....

Well a few things for this guy to read upon before he does this to me, if he does...

1) Upon entering my forum you agree to the style terms and conditions, if he steals any part of it, he agrees a fee must be paid or we will contact the necessary authorities.

2) Copying posts/forums etc... will get this guy no where, his forum will fail and no one will visit it anyway.

I used to go after people who stole things from my previous forums.
Now I dont really care. Copies of things usually fail eventually anyways.
 
If all he does is copy, that's what his forum will be: A copycat, an imitation...

No one wants an imitation. People are going to join the "real deal" forum.
 
Why worry or even bother about him? He's likely some 10 year old kid that plays Pokemon who clearly has no idea what he's doing.

Oh well. Ive lost my competitive nature when it comes to forums. I only care about what goes on at my forum. If someone wants to pathetically copy my forum then I suppose I cant stop them. I could send empty threats but it doesnt always work.
They wont have the same community of people. That is something you cannot copy.

Very true. Also if people see that their administrator is copying everything, they may be more inclined to move elsewhere.
 
His template is crappy. Also his advertisement is annoying (silly Evony)

I think he's lazy.
 
He acuses other sites of hacking him whenever he's confrunted. His members think he's legit.
 
I wouldnt worry. No one can make a forum successful when it looks like that.

I doubt that. I'm 99% convinced that those members are double accounts.

Anyway, when I was a n00b Admin (6+ years ago, btw), I used to do this. I suspect he's probably just young and doesn't know any better.
 
Actually he's 21. Here knows it's illegal and he's well aware that he faces the reality that his site will get shut down if Forumotion gets wind of what he's doing. Which I have no doubt will happen since the three sites he's stolen from (that I'm aware of) are aware of the theft.

And since one is Serebii, which has hundreds of active members, the likelihood that it'll happen is almost a sure thing.
 
Before that he stole them from Monakus Karion, and after that he stole one from TAG..... now he's stealing them from Serebii..... it's sad really.

MK and TAG both restricted their guides to Members only.... but that didn't stop him. He has three accounts on TAG.
 
That guy is a good example of a lazy admin. He doesn't have the time to customize his theme, doesn't have the time to create his own content.
