I watch Youtube on my smart tv. But I know Kodi is a software that basically replaces the need for a smart tv. 😛 I sometimes use the mobile app but not that often.

99.9% of the time I'm watching YouTube, it's through the website. The other 0.1% of the time I watch it is through the app on my phone, and that's usually when I'm trying to put something together and I need a YouTube video of someone else doing it to help me along the way because I can't understand the instructions I was provided in the box (IKEA furniture, I'm looking at you). I've also used my phone to play YouTube videos of cats meowing or birds chirping to get a reaction out of my animals, but that's usually not very often.
I normally watch it through the website. I don't normally watch it on my phone 'cause I don't normally have ear buds with me when I'm out in public and I don't want to disturb anyone.
Multitasking: You can open multiple tabs, take notes, or browse while watching.
Bigger screen: Ideal for tutorials, lectures, or cinematic content.
Keyboard shortcuts: Pause, skip, adjust playback speed — all faster with keys.
Advanced features: Easier access to YouTube Studio, analytics, and channel management.
⚠️ Considerations:
Requires a stable internet connection and a computer.
Less portable — not ideal for on-the-go viewing.
📱 YouTube Mobile App (iOS/Android)
✅ Best for:
Convenience: Watch anywhere — bus, bed, beach.
Voice search: Just say what you want to watch.
Offline viewing: Download videos (with Premium) for data-free playback.
Vertical content: Shorts and mobile-optimized videos feel native here.
⚠️ Considerations:
Smaller screen = less immersive for long-form content.
Limited multitasking unless using split-screen or picture-in-picture.
🧠 So, Which Is Best for You?
If you’re a student, creator, or someone who watches long-form content while working — the website is probably your best bet.
If you’re a casual viewer, commuter, or someone who loves Shorts and quick entertainment — the mobile app wins for flexibility.
Ultimately, many people use both depending on the situation. The real win is knowing when to switch between them to get the most out of your viewing experience.
