What are some of your favorite ways to cool off when it's hot?

Being in an Aircondition car, then again does not always work if the car has been in the sun all day. in the UK is not easy trying to cool yourself down if your room is on the top floor and buildings are made for a winter theme.

Do as many outdoor/physical activities as you can in the morning and evening when it's cooler (exercise/dog walking, gardening, taking out the trash, mowing the lawn).

Stay in the coolest room of your house during the day. Probably a basement room or room with fewer windows. Get blackout curtains to block sunshine/heat from coming into the room.

Get a cool-air fan. I find this is better than using my AC.

Wet your hair--a cool head will help keep your body cool.

Sip ice water continuously throughout the day. I freeze a Nalgene bottle, half full, on it's side. Fill with water before work. Half the bottle is ice and it stays cold all day.

Spend time at highly air conditioned places during the day (movies, shopping mall, libraries) to save on your home electric bill.

Check out your community swimming pools. Our county pools are really cheap if you're a resident. Hotels and apartment complexes also offer inexpensive daily rates for swimming at their pools.

Know your limits. I can tolerate the heat more than others but I still don't do hard work until later in the day. Be sure to drink liquids. Know your body as well. If you feel light-headed, dizzy, wet yourself down.

Well, we recently got a portable air conditioner and it's a lot better than the bulky ones where you have to open the window and put it in.

Go inside and sit in the air conditioning or sit in a bathtub full of ice.

Ice cream is my favorite part about hot weather conditions. I'd take popsicles or ice water but ice cream is definitely my favorite!

One way to cool off in the summer is by hanging curtains with a heavy material or light material that will block out the sun. This is great for hot days when you may not want to shut your curtains, but still want less heat entering your home through your windows. Take it up another notch and get blackout curtains so there's no sunlight at all coming into your home!
#What's the difference between curtains and upholstery?
Some curtains are meant for decoration, while others may serve the function of blocking out light. Upholstery is often more decorative and serves a greater purpose than purely to block light or heat from entering a room. It can also be used as a form of insulation. Furniture upholstery is specially designed to protect furniture from dirt, dust and other elements. If you're looking for curtains that will keep out the light and the heat, I recommend heavyweight curtains or blackout curtains(https://www.fabrichouse.com.au/product-tag/curtains/). Heavyweight curtains are perfect for those hotter months when you need a little more insulation in your home. Blackout curtains are specifically designed to keep all the light out, making them perfect for rooms where you need to sleep during the day. If you're looking to upholster furniture, I would recommend using a durable and heavy fabric like denim or tweed.
