What do you think about having webcams in your child's classroom, so that you could monitor them (and the teacher teaching them) from your home computer. I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I think it would be nice to be able to watch our children while they're at school. But on the other hand, I think it might violate their privacy somewhat.

What do you think?

I think its weird, never heard of an idea like that lol. Its too much.

I can agree with that, especially the privacy part. Then again, I think webcams would be installed on school computers anyway.

Yeah that is borderline creepy. Even more so if instead of a webcam simply security cameras were used. When those are unsecured anyone can view them online. Once saw a thread on this forum where people searched them for funny things, would be pretty scary to have a security camera in your house that random strangers online could watch you 😛

It's very creepy and not something i would do to my kids. But it's also not a privacy thing since your in a classroom with others.Just mom watching also 😛

I agree, they are going too far with this whole security stuff.

It's kind of weird, and who would pay for the bandwidths webcams, and software to monitor the classroom without letting creepy strangers hack into the webcam streams to watch kids and the teacher?

I feel tax payer money and time could be better off then installing a webcam in every classroom and computer which can be expensive if you buy HD webcams.

This is pretty the answer. 😛

It's not an invasion of privacy, but it IS creepy.

I can't understand why this is needed. A teacher should be able to keep an eye on a class from the front of the classroom and be competent enough to inform the parents of what their children are doing in the classroom. If a parent cannot trust their child in class without having to watch them then maybe they need to change schools.

That is totally an invasion of privacy. Wouldn't surprise me if some sick fcks already do that with home made baby monitors they give to kids. If they monitor hotel rooms might as well do that to classrooms too.

This was done in a per- school and it was later found out that pedos managed to hacked in the sever and watch the kids at play ect

I think fiona makes a valid point, however pedophiles will always find a way to watch children, not that we need to give them more. Invasion of privacy? Yes I believe it is, but I also think it is one of those cases where it is the lesser of 2 evils.
