Ok so there is a domain that is available and I am going to register it tomorrow (if it doesn't get taken), but I was just wondering what everything thinks of a Webmaster / Admin forum?

Don't worry, it won't just be another ordinary forum, I will most likely have something to offer that is unique to the forum, which I always try to do anyway.

Just wanted your opinions on whether you think it would work or not.

Regards.

That's the same with any website you start though.

If you are going to open a gaming site, you are competing with FileFront, xFire etc and so on.

It will be hard, but I don't mind that 😉

Not really any site, people say Promotion Forums are hard, yet I have not seen one with over 300000 posts.

Well if you haven't seen one with over 300,000 posts then obviously it is hard 😉

But you and I both stated before that if you have competition with millions of posts it is hard, and now you say if you have only seen small forums on that subject, it is hard. Not really, as you have no competition, you just have too play your cards right.

Yeah I have alot of experience with that, I have been working on websites for around 5 years. I can always give it a go, it's not the end of the world if it doesn't work. I posted on DP to see if I can buy a forum and domain that isn't active or has a small community to see if I can revive it.

List the things you know proficiently, including forum softwares, blog softwares, Javascript, PHP etc. , so we get a fair idea of your skill level.

I know, vBulletin (php console coding (console hacking language) c++ visual basics, some html, Some css & More 😉

I wish you good luck with it mate, I will definitely join.
Btw, you forgot to take a look at OffTopicDen.com man.

But yeah, go for it, I will be there. 🙂

Have you decided on what that will be yet? As you already know there is lots of competition in the webmaster forum marketplace and you will need something unique and special in order to be successful.

I have taken read everyones thoughts, and considering the forums out there already (DigitalPoint, TheAdminZone etc) I decided to change my ways and go down another route.

I have bought a good domain name and have great ideas for it. I will share in the near future, it is still for forums but thats all I will share for now.

+1 to that.

My opinion is that if you want to start a forum start one on something you really enjoy discussing and helping people with. Personally I think that this is even more important than starting a forum in an area where there is little competition. Your community is much more likely to succeed in the long term if you are passionate about it, enjoy working on it and get a kick out of helping your members.

Good luck with your new project John.

Indeed, the new project is about forums which I really like discussing, working on etc so hopefully with dedication and some active members I can make this into a good community for others.

Thanks for your words Fergal.
