Which do you think is a better term? Webmaster or Administrator?

I have seen people using them interchangeably and the distinct meaning of these two terms have blurred. Which do you prefer and why?

Webmaster has a certain OOMPH😀

The word Administrator or also known as Admin is tend to be used allot on forums and it's something that people/members know about. Yet if I was an webmaster running an webmaster site then webmaster is what I will use in a red format

I refer to myself as Webmaster, because my skills go beyond being a forum admin. I'm also a programmer, and designer. So I like Webmaster better than Administrator.

Or an poker? right, that's fine!

In my point of view personally:

Webmaster: Knows how to program and use programming languages, and most of his/her website is made by their own work. hence the word "Master"

Administrator (Admin): Usually a person who is in a management position and knows how to manage the website such as CMS/Forum software. They can claim to know how to program as well.

I agree with you entirely on this issue.

Webmaster = Blogs and normal websites
Administrator = Forums
Sysop = BBS (Bulletin Board System) Old school 80's
Mindless = Facebook

Well for me, I see myself both an administrator, and webmaster, due to me designing, and managing my forum.

Personally, if you have any respect for yourself as a forum owner, you'd call yourself a webmaster. 😛

Webmasters take care of websites and administrators take care of forums.

It's all semantics to me. The administrator of a forum would usually already be skilled in doing at least SOME coding, editing, customization, and other maintenance work.

I tend to use webmaster for the person that does the majority of the technical work, and I use admin for people that are primarily focused on the management. I also use admin for webmasters though, and I actually don't really use the word webmaster a whole lot unless the site specifically says that's what the person's role is. I tend to refer to our admin that handles all the technical stuff our "tech admin," or something along those lines.

Administrator. I have little to no mastery of forums, just in all honesty.

While I feel I better fit the defined role of Webmaster, it just sounds silly and as if I'm full of myself because it contains the word "master", so I go by Administrator.
