Glad you like it! 🙂 Looking forward to seeing you around!Great forum I just joined! Will get a bit active later today.
As of now it's not a lot, I do have analytics however it's nothing to post on as of yet. I'm still hard at work building the SEO of the site, once that gets to where I need it and I start ranking on google it will increase. As of now we have just under 2k back links, and I'm getting more and more added every day!How many visitors do you get to your site, have you got analytics running?

A lot of your backlinks are low quality (DR/DA of 0-10) and some are even left as IP addresses. As of now it's not a lot, I do have analytics however it's nothing to post on as of yet. The DR's raising with the back links, it's not high but it is raising (currently 4.7) I'm doing the same thing I did with my 40k member forum, so it should work out in the end. Build SEO/backlinks using specific keywords, the more you have the higher you rank the more members you generate through google. I was bringing in over 500k-1M views a month using this method and had 5 keywords first on google.A lot of your backlinks are low quality (DR/DA of 0-10) and some are even left as IP addresses.
The ones that are a higher DR don't seem to be converting much traffic which, like Puppuccino said, should be bringing in at least something.
I would focus a lot more on raising your sites Domain Authority and content, not just low quality backlinks. But that's just my two cents.
Were there other factors at the with your 40k member forum though? Less competitive landscape? More niche topic etc.?The DR's raising with the back links, it's not high but it is raising (currently 4.7) I'm doing the same thing I did with my 40k member forum, so it should work out in the end. The forum's not the only focus with the site, the marketplace and a new feature which will be added here soon will be another huge factor on the website. Getting ranked on google is one of the best ways to advertise, and as you stated you wouldn't join if the forum has no activity from users and minimal content. So advertising won't change that fact either, so might as well continue to build the keywords and getting ranked higher on google to get more daily views and more authentic members that way on top of advertising. As Cumulus has said, I'd focus on actually advertising the forum rather than building backlinks as you've not got very much activity and the stats are still fairly low.
Ultimately, do what you want, but I'd suggest boosting your stats and activity first as I wouldn't join if the forum has no activity from users and minimal content to contribute to. Just my opinion though, that's all.
Google may be the best place to advertise, but it's like advertising a bike with only one wheel. It isn't a fully complete or marketable product yet.The forum's not the only focus with the site, the marketplace and a new feature which will be added here soon will be another huge factor on the website.
