Website Buying Scam

Basically, a bunch of guys go on Flippa.com and create the illusion a website has value. This drags in some fools and soon they sell you a completely useless website for 400 to 900 dollars.

Note, they create the illusion with fake traffic stats and also fake bids, bids which are real bids but done with the intention of manipulating the bait for the scam.

well, buy IPS or other software like that then free ones, unless you know how to make on from scratch

I'd rather make my own sites anyway, then I can set things up how I want them done

That is pretty easy to avoid. You need to do some checks like:
1. Number of backlinks (Ahrefs or Majestic)
2. Whois info
3. If they claim rankings in Google - just make a manual check.

It's so easy to fake this sort of thing, you need to be really careful.

I always look on FP then other websites for selling
