Charity donations are generally higher close to Christmas as people are more generous at that time and tend to spend a little time reflecting on those less fortunate than themselves. So December might work, but don't leave it too close to Christmas or people will be too busy with their last minute preparations.
Saying all that, you will probably have more competition from other Charities at Christmas time.
