How easy or hard is it for you to maintain weight? Many people have weight loss issues, whereas I have the opposite problem. I've had trouble putting on weight all my life. If I gain too much weight I get sick. It always annoys me when people say stuff like "I wish I had your problem!" Uh, trust me when I say you do NOT want my problem. I eat all the time, but my weight is something you'd expect out of a 13 year old...not almost 34 years old! Because I'm small for my age, things like blood draws are hard to find a decent vein for, so I can't participate in blood drives. In fact, when I was in school, and participation in the blood drive for extra credit, I was always glad when teacher's offered alternative extra credit assignments for those who don't want to donate or those like me who aren't healthy enough to donate
I had my thyroid removed over 4 years ago and have been on thyroid hormone since then and have been able to maintain my weight easily. Before that though, all of my life it was difficult to lose weight and I kept gaining and gaining. Having a bad thyroid really is awful and I'm glad I am on the hormones now. It's hard to lose weight though because I hate the feeling of having too much hormone once I lose a few pounds and I end up eating to feel better.
There are many different approaches to losing weight, and the best method for you will depend on your individual circumstances and goals. Here are some general tips that can help you achieve a healthy weight:
Eat a balanced diet: Focus on consuming a variety of nutrient-dense foods, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid processed and high-sugar foods, which can contribute to weight gain.
Exercise regularly: Engaging in regular physical activity can help you burn calories and build muscle, which can help you lose weight. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week.
Get enough sleep: Adequate sleep is important for maintaining a healthy weight, as it can help regulate hunger and metabolism. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.
Drink plenty of water: Staying hydrated can help you feel full and satisfied, which can help you make healthier food choices. Aim for at least 8 cups of water per day.
Seek support: Losing weight can be challenging, and it can be helpful to enlist the support of friends, family, or a healthcare professional to help you stay motivated and on track.
It is important to remember that weight loss should be approached in a healthy and sustainable way, and that rapid or extreme weight loss is not advisable. If you are concerned about your weight or are considering starting a weight loss program, it is a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional to discuss the best approach for you.
Best thing for to have a successful weight loss of my own is to just watch what I eat and follow the guidelines on a piece of paper the doctor gave me. I've started this thing 12 years ago and yes, it's not easy and all, but I just try and take it one step at a time.
