Do you feel welfare is theft? There are some extremists that feel that way. However, though, on the hand, some underestimate the power of monopoly, giving more credit to capitalism, or do they?

It depends on the type of welfare and whether it is justly distributed. Did you have something in mind? 😀

I think welfare is helpful to people as long as it given to those who truly need it. 🙂

We have here the so called 4P which is a welfare program intended to aid the poor students of the country. Depending on the evaluation of the student, the welfare is around $50 to $100 per month. So if a poor family has 4 students on welfare then it is like having a salary. And that is being exploited by opportunists. Parents don't work and sometimes they even take a loan with the monthly welfare aid as the promised installment. The purpose is good but the implementation is bad.

However, though, the idea behind it is that the students will get jobs upon graduation. In that case, the government gets paid back via taxes.

I think if people really need it, it is not nor should it be considered theft. However, I remember years ago there was an artist from a well known rap group who was pretty financially well off. Yet he and his family still collected welfare. That right there, is stealing.

The government should giving us all some aide from time to time. All they do is take take take and take some more. 🙄

I think some help is fine. I'm not for the extremism of Ron Paul. However, though, I feel like jobs are the better option for people, even truly disabled people (say the mentally challenged etc.) However, politicians have not focused on giving people jobs, but rather charity.

Well, some people need it and some abuse it badly. I think they should be more strict with welfare. They should probably put more limitations on it.

Regardless of whether or not the welfare is need, the very idea of welfare coming from taxation should absolutely be considered theft. The government is taking away peoples hard earned money and giving it to someone else. That to me falls very clearly in the definition of theft. Even though it should be called theft, that does not mean it is not going to people who genuinely need it. We as a society need to support each other voluntarily rather than getting the government to redistribute in my opinion.

Well, to be honest, despite the funny comments, I have to say that if only people weren't so stingy - and would give people jobs, well, maybe there wouldn't be welfare. :cigar: Right?
