Did you ever decide after installing your forum software that it was a big mistake? And, maybe you could not easily change the software but had to live with it. Or, were you able to upgrade to the forum software of your choice after changing your mind?

My one forum has been on 4 different software's over the last 4 years. 😛
It started on a free one (phpbb) and I wanted to check out the paid softwares (vBulletin and IPB) so thats were it went next. After I got that out of my system and grew tired of paying renewal fee's, I converted to MyBB. I don't foresee it changing again though.

PhpBB1, yes but that was MANY MANY years ago 😛 Nowadays, I research the software and try to demo it first.

Not particularly. I tend to read and research about software I'm interested in, and try to find a forum running in that software and see how it went. I decided from there if I liked it enough to put up with using it as a member and administrator. That's how I learn. I have used many software and each has their own advantages/things I like about it.
