I know my board hasn't been up for very long. Although I have advertised at like at least 30 advertising boards and I do not know what I am doing wrong.
My board is not very active at all. I get maybe 2-3 posts a week if that.
What am I doing wrong? I thought I was doing everything correctly, or maybe I'm missing something? I don't know.
Any suggestions or anything like that on improving my board would be highly appreciated. 🙂
If I posted this in the wrong section go ahead and move it if you'd like. I figured this would be the best place to post it.
Well I visit my board everyday, but I can't sit there and beg someone to be a member or come to my board if they don't want too. So I figured since they are not wanting to come willingly that I was doing something in particular wrong.
Ah you sound like me a year ago. Well.. Never mind.. it is still like that somewhat. 😛
Pretty much, it all lies with luck.. luck that just the right member will come along and send your forum into activity central.
For me, as I have a Christian forum, it was a pastor with a sleep problem. He just couldn't sleep.. So he stayed on my forum and posted insanely. It was him who got my forum off the ground and going.. Then someone else happened to come along and donated over $200 dollars to my forum.. Then someone else (my Co-Admin) donated a free IPB forum license..
So, for you, as I don't know if you are Christian, you may call it luck.. I call it a Godsend. Two different opinions of course... But either way, what ever you call it, it plays a large portion of starting a forum.
Advertise away.. If you do not advertise, you cannot hope to get that one person to help you.. Or more than one person..
Second, look at how many topics YOU start. Every week, challenge yourself to post one more time or post one new topic more than the past week.
Also, don't go crazy with staff.. I learned this and although a Christian forum needs more moderators than a normal forum, there is still a limit for us.. There is also a limit to you.
And look at your forum's organization. And design. Both play a major role in how attractive your forum is and how easy it is to post in it.
That pastor who got my forum started came because of one reason... My forum was the only Christian forum that had a dark design. My main color was a dark gray with a red accent..
That style made my forum what it is.
So, watch for key members. Watch your own posts, and finally watch your design and organization. If you do all that then just be consistent like you already are. Visit theadminzone.com for tips and tricks on how to promote for forum through blogs and other avenues.
I visited your forum and it looks nice, great theme. Dont see what your doing wrong but I can see how much your trying to keep it active. My forum has just recently gone in-active and I'm trying to keep it a float but people log in but dont post and just read.
As mentioned, get involved with post exchanges to help build, and boost activity. That's what i did the entire first year of my forum. All the hard work has finally paid off.
But, YOU have to work for it. Members won't bang down your door to join. Do some post exchanges, get some post packages; advertise like crazy.
Don't just join a forum, advertise, then scram. You'll get shunned by the community, and noone will take you seriously.
Be active on forum's like yours, wear you banner/link in your sig. Get to know the community. If they like you, they'll read your sig, and take interests.
Though, I'm going to honest; for a web Design tutorial forum, it's not that great looking, and may not be taken seriously. Your forum actually looks pretty basic, with no custoimizing that's noticeable. The banner is kinda grainy, like looking through a dirty window... and the text in the banner, should be just basic text, without the "graffiti" looking text it has now.
