I've had this: http://gamingstrike.com forum open since February. I have three different themes, gaming news, and I've tried a posting contest. I've been promoting since the beginning and still, less than 2,000 posts. What do I need to add, change, or remove to make my forum a success?

It's hard to run a general gaming board. Consider specializing. ZetaBoards isn't the best option either, not the most welcoming forum script for users IMO. You should also be posting at least 10 times a day yourself, that right there would be around 1200 posts.

I could give you a little tips.

1) Remove the "viewers" from the category, because when i new member join and see 0 viewers on all categories then won't post because he would think that no one will respond.

2) Create multiple accounts, and start new and interesting topics.

3) The theme is not that good, try something little darker. Gaming site are usually darker and with good banners. Make a good banner and change your theme.

4) You might think about RSS feeds. You can grab latest gaming news from IGN, Gamespot etc and post them in specified category automatically.

Thanks it for now 😉

If you were promoting hard enough I'd see the that forum advertised on most forums I visit. I'd suggest expose the forum more. Create something innovative for a gaming forum.

try to narrow down to one platform or game, like Gimgak said. Also i dont like zetaboards and im not the only one

Have you tried asking your real life friends and family, online friends from Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger, Skype, etc to join your forum?

You can also spend some money on paid forum posting services if you do not have the time to make more topics or replies on your board.

I dont think that it is because it is on Zetaboards. Look at gamingfor.me That forum is big and not open long.... Its on Zetaboards too so it isnt because of that

I'm not forumist (from the word sexist) to Zetaboards but I don't like it. It doesn't really welcome me into the forum.

What do you mean it doesn't welcome you into the forum. What do I need to change or does Zeta need to change to welcome you into the forum? :/

Don't listen to all those silly Zeta board haters Logan they're full of ....nothing wrong with using Zeta at least it's better then all those twats who use paid forum services for example...and then run out of money to support it

Well, been using Zeta from a long time and its going really good. Nothing wrong with it. Must of all Zeta themes have way better look than others and is more easy to create themes too. I wonder why many of you guys hate it??

There many general gaming forums that been on the net for long time that are using paid software, custom designs, and putting a lot money to their forums. The only way you can go against that is if you have something that they do not have.

Have you thought about making a YouTube Channel with tons of gaming related videos to promote your forum?

You can put the link as a watermark in all your video, and put a link in the description for all your videos and channel on YouTube. If you have quality gaming videos on YouTube, you can get thousands or even millions of views.

You can also make a Facebook Group or page for Facebook where you can tell people on Facebook about your forum.

You can also try Twitter, and other social sites to promote your site.
