I usually use Avast as my Antivirus program. But at the momment, I'm trying Bitdefender Internet Security and it works great.

I have not used any anti-virus software for years. As long as you know your way around internet and what you are doing, there is no special need for AV.

We have an issue with the anti-virus of our home desktop. We had a licensed Symantec that was given to us by a friend. It looked good and we felt safe. However, the license expired in 2014 so there were no updates anymore with the software and the virus list. Since we don't want to spend for the license so we resorted to free anti-virus. And since AVG had the best review, we installed it. And it looked good and like the Symantec, we felt our desktop to be safe from viruses. But there is one problem - the software was updating itself regardless of the setting. And when the updating is ongoing, naturally the computer slows down. The updating is frequent up to the point that it was already irritating. To make the story short, we shifted to Avast. I cannot say if our desktop is really safe but for the meantime, Avast is okay.
