One of the things that I hate about being an admin is how much hate I get for doing my job. When I have to lock a post made by someone who is being mean or trolling or have to delete a post made by a popular member who is just trying to start a fight. Some members think they are exempt from the rules and go way out to exploit that. And, they get other people on their side.
I look at it as my job to keep the peace on every forum where I'm acting as admin. I don't tolerate trolls or bullies. And, people mistake my niceness for being a pushover and are very surprised when I push back against their bully tactics with my admin powers.
Still, I never get used to the hatred and anger that comes my way for doing my admin job.
Re: What are some of the things you hate about being an admi
I simply hate to see someone not enjoying themselves. I feel as admin, it's my responsibility (and the rest of the staffs, but more so the admins as they're the top of the leader/management pile) to ensure members feel welcome and happy on my forum. If they show signs that indicate otherwise, it makes me feel bad that I've been unable to make them feel the way I want everyone on my forum to feel.
The hatred never gets old, but I think the main thing I hate about being an admin sometimes, is the time it takes to do everything and dealing with staff members. It takes so much time to manage the forum you tend to forget about the forum itself and what the forum members actually like, ya know?
That and finding and handling staff matters, gosh that never gets old. 😛
The whole promotion thing. I despise having to promote websites, especially given how absolutely no one else on my sites ever seems to be willing to help in these endeavours.
I hate those who try to get back at me just because I sent them a message about them breaking a rule or two. It's like I'm in the wrong for simply doing my job. Just learn from your mistake and get along with others and everything will be fine. Just don't have a go at the very members who try to keep a community going. 😛
- The entire advertising matter. My partner and i despise needing to encourage sites, in particular provided how simply no one particular in addition upon our web sites at any time seems to be ready to assist in these kind of efforts.
This whole admin hate business escalated out of control until the animetake site got shutdown, i'm sure it was the rent but the last flamewar really broke the camels back with one admin threatening to quit. Seriously if a flamewar can start over Free! You've got problems.
The whole promotion process is a chore. I'm the only one who's actively getting my forums any exposure, apart from a bit of help in the past from certain people. I tend to think that I'm being a burden on others for linking them to my forums. It's not like I'm forcing them to join, but to encourage them to visit and read our content.
Also, dealing with whiny babies pisses me off immensely. Instead of wasting more of my time trying to talk it out with them, it's better to punish them for acting unstable and just let it be.
