Today I walked down a city street and passed by two people who do not have a home, but instead have no other option than to live on the streets.

It is a sad commentary on our planet that we live in a world where people are in poverty and do not have the essentials of living such as shelter and food.

What are your views on the homeless?

If you could say one thing to all homeless everywhere, what would you say?

How can we take the homeless and make them home owners instead?

It’s sad.

Things look bleak right now, but hang in there. You’ll find a way out of this situation if you put your mind to it.

Home owners? That’s a tough goal even for those with good jobs. Let’s start with finding them a place with an affordable rent. Rent is skyrocketing all over the country, especially in metropolitan cities and the suburban towns within 100 miles of them. Part of the reason some people are homeless is because they cannot find an affordable place to rent, let alone buy.

no money
no home or family
life is heard to live
they tend to keep moving around
they don't get much help or choose to not get help
they are dirty and always look sad

Some 2 weeks ago, the city of Manila conducted a clearing operation that focused on the homeless. They had gathered more than a hundred people who are living under the bridge and in other public places like parks. From the estimates of the authorities, there are more than 10,000 homeless in Manila alone. That is a staggering number. It seems like the government is helpless. The public housing program just couldn't cope up with the rapid growth of the homeless. Maybe a smart planner can prepare a program that will control the growing number of homeless families.

I don't know where everyone is from, but most people in the US who are homeless are homeless because they want to be. There are some who have mental illness issues and are there thru no fault of their own. However, for others, there is just no excuse. There are government programs that are designed to help people get off the streets. There is an abundance of churches and non-profits who go above and beyond to help anyone who wants it.

In the US, It seems to take at least 1000 a month for anyone to survive. Are there enough jobs that pay at least that much?

$1000 per month? That isn't even enough for someone to move out of their parent's house. ;-)

I know right? Even a full-time minimum wage worker makes more than that. Not that much more, but still more. But, I think we have really started to pull this thread off-topic.

Part of the issue lies within drug addictions and gangs. Perhaps, working on that would eliminate the creation of more homeless people.

The issue with dealing with the homeless, at least in New York, is that you have good and bad people who are homeless. And homeless families are often housed with drug addicts and gang members. This in turn may lead to children in those shelters picking up on those things, and ending homeless themselves. The only way to solve the homeless crisis, at least in New York, would be to provide safe housing, job, and educational benefits to good people (single or family) who are homeless. And the other would have to be some sort of rehabilitation program for drug addicts and former gang members. But mixing the two within the same shelters, as we do now, only creates violence and crime. Last but not least, I'm not in favor of forcibly plucking people off the streets without a crime, as that's a violation of freedom and natural rights. We can ban drug addicts and criminals from sleeping and staying in certain areas, but that's about it.

Is job competition for minimum wage jobs an excuse? Is there really any? If there is, then the homeless are not using a way out.
