1 Verbal Warning, 2 Warning, 3 - 24 hours review (If serious ban), 4 suspension and 5 permanent ban. So pretty much like Tucker's way.

It depends on the forum, but personally I believe you should be just slapped with a warning.
I have 8 warning system, Once they have reached 8 in total (depending on that member) they get one big life ban. It depends on that member and the account, like might ban it with 4 warnings.

I get very pissed off when spammers come to yours/my forums because of bad back-links and this is where the spammers come in and post a load of useless shit. I have experienced this on a older forum and due to bad back-links these different type of promotional spammers come in and spam the most stupidest posts that no one would never click on.
With my new forum if I see any type of spam like the ones I mentioned above I permanently ban them.
But i am a laid back person who gives people chances I don't generally permanently ban but I can not stand them type of spammers.

What Deems and immediate ban
Same, however with IPB software they already have an system built that stops. I set it up that you have to wait 30 to 1min to post another post. also it tracks emails and bad IPs that may be a spam

- Unauthorised Advertising / Spam
- Flaming
- Inappropriate Content
- Repeated Offender
- Linking Illegal sources of copyrighted material
- Plagiarism
- Abusing the report system
- Adult Content
All of the above carry infraction points of varying levels and various expiry time depending on the offense. 10 accumulated unexpired points carries a 14 day auto-suspension.
Although, depending on how bad the user is, they might not have to acquire enough points to get automatically banned. We might suspend them for a longer period at our own discretion if they are being particularly disruptive to the community and especially if they've already been suspended before.
People or bots who sign up to advertise are getting permanently banned though. No mercy.

I never bothered with warning systems as I pretty much was the judge of what was and wasn't acceptable as my interpretation of the rules was the only one that ultimately mattered because I was the only admin on the board. I had mods who helped enforce rules but I had final say and any challenge to a mod's moderation action was looked over by me as sole admin and with it sole judge whose judgements were final. I normally agreed with most of the mod's decisions but sometimes I didn't. My forums were known for their relatively peace(not withstanding the outsiders( non members) who made a point of taking their grievances with me out on the forums I ran) and infrequent rule breakers and there was rarely ever a need to do much to anyone as most got the picture quick that I was just and fair.
