Got to thinking...

I love the genre/niche, but it's just a very hard one to get active and get people involved. Why is that? Is it due to the fact they just use FB groups or so to vent/rant/whatever? What can these forums do differently to stand out and get traffic?

1. Create a safe and supportive environment: Mental health is a sensitive topic, and people may feel vulnerable sharing their experiences. Make sure your forum has clear guidelines that prioritize the emotional well-being of members. Consider appointing moderators who are trained to handle sensitive discussions and can offer support to those who need it.

2. Offer unique and engaging content: To attract and retain members, your forum should offer content that is informative, thought-provoking, and relevant. Consider featuring guest experts, hosting live discussions, or creating multimedia content such as videos and podcasts.

3. Focus on community building: Encourage members to connect with each other beyond the forum by organizing local meetups, virtual events, or online support groups. Consider creating a mentorship program where experienced members can offer guidance to those who are new to the forum.

All of that seems wonderful. I was asking as someone who is only a mod on a mental health forum. I will pass this along to the actual site owner.

Issue is that mental health is not openly discussed and if a male suffers and expresses himself, this is seen in society as a sign of weakness unfortunately and not man like

Oh, sorry I had meant to say I'm one of the mods on the forum. Not the only one! Anyway, thanks!

@Kale What @futurerich50 wrote is quite good!
I honestly feel however that social media will get more activity than forums, regardless what goes on. I don't know why but seems people prefer social media.
Definitely a safe place. Has to be moderated very well. Accept each other even if you don't accept what they do or believe.
What I have liked seeing is articles posted & encouraging discussions.

Social media often returns instant gratification and validation through the means of likes/upvotes and praise.
I haven't used social media in years. That makes tremendous amount of sense! Thank you for responding 🙂

This is what I've been saying for a long ass time too. No one is going to post on a forum at all anymore. It is hard enough to even maintain active members on a forum as it is.

And that's the issue with Facebook and even Facebook groups. Some of them are not moderated, or if they are it is done very poorly. Some groups even have rules against reporting posts :/
