When do you consider a site a success? Do you think it's on when you get x members, x views a month, x posts a day, etc.

I've always thought posts a day really. Though I do enjoy seeing like at least 200 members. But the days we reach 1,000 posts a day - those are the days where I'm really proud of my community and I feel pretty successful, though even the days with 500 posts a day I'm happy with 🙂

Obviously... LOL. I couldn't have said it better myself.... 🙂

The thing with this, especially with forums, if you have 500k views a month. That's a decent amount of traffic, however, if you only have 100 members, and 1,000 posts, do you really consider it active? You may have the views, but not the content, members, or actual activity.

True... My MK site has 61 members and 4,071 posts, but the posts are hard to come by, and my business sites DO have traffics, but no-one registers.... I guess....

Well, for me, it depends on why I opened the site. If I end up meeting my aims, then the site is successful. For example, if the aim of my site is to help people, then if my site gets good reviews and people find my site helpful, then I would classify that as being successful. If my aim is to make money, then making a good profit is being successful. If I want to have a big community, then having lots of active members is being successful.

I know a lot of people here create websites/forums as a hobby and not for the money so for them, maybe an active community is a successful site. However, for an entrepreneur, a site with no income is not a successful site. I have seen forums that has a relatively active community but don't seem to get much traffic. Little traffic means little income to an entrepreneur.

Well put my friend, well put. I make websites as a hobby, so my sole goal is to help the community I'm making the site on. I thank you for taking the time to post this, and I think this pretty much sums up everything in the question to be honest.
