Hello all,

I am starting up a web hosting company and I would like to know what the "people" would like from a web hosting company? I don't intend to base the company all on profits! I would like to be user friendly as well! I don't want customers to feel like numbers! I wan't them to feel like a family! 🙂

So if you could tell me what you would like from a web host please do! 🙂 :great:

Reliability and swift action on any possible issues raising up.

Personally I don't care being a "family" with my webhost: we're doing business together, and I pay them for the service they provide so the only thing I care about is having that service provided.

What most people look for is cheapness to be honest. If its cheap they will buy it if it isn't they will look for something cheaper.
Security is also very important and speed. If your site is slowly loading you won't go far.
Professional look, if you have site that offers great packages and is really great but your site looks give of a strange feeling that it might be a scam site you might not get a single customer. I ran IHost4You for a year or so and the first theme of my site was horrible, no one would come to the site, when I changed it and make it look more professional I slowly started to gain popularity and my host got some clients 😀

Basically a host that gets things done when they need to be done. I definitely will focus on this! Thanks for your input!

Definitely I agree with you on all points here.

I am getting my service so that I will be able to get some of the best deals out there I definitely understand the principle of people paying for cheaper. So that is something that I am going to focus on.

Site speeds shouldn't be a problem, And I am quite confident with our security system. Being a website guy my self I understand that pain of frustratingly slow loading speeds and I definitely don't want to put that pain on any of my future customers.

And with website design I agree with you as well, I am going to be paying a proper website designer to create our website to make it look quite modern and elegant. 🙂

Thank you for your input you definitely have given me some things to think about! 🙂

Oh and dont forget to chose a name that is easy to remember 😀

Definitely! I still have to brainstorm a name for it! Normally the name will come to me when it has no relevance to what I am thinking about. xD

I think customers want cheap and reliable service. If you can provide the same support and reliability that big companies provide and are cheaper than them, then this is a good unique selling point. However competition is big in the hosting company so you will need to put in the work.

You also need to be able to provide quick support but the problem is when your company is small or you don't have many staff members, it's hard to provide quick support so that is what you need to think about. However if you are planning to invest money into the project and hire staff to deal with support then you may be able to have some success.

A lot of people also tend to go for the larger companies so you really need to attract customers over to your host by providing something unique. They key is to provide more than other hosts.
