i started up my forums almost a month ago now. So far i have only really gotten 20 members but that isn't really the issue at hand.
i have a friend in real life who sort of coaxed me into letting him be a moderator. he isn't very active (despite reminders in real life and the admin section which i doubt he read), he doesn't come off as a very welcoming spirit to be honest. I constantly stress the importance of posting in the welcome section and he just doesn't do it.

i can't just strip him of his admin and move on because he'll get pretty pissy and i would lose a semi-active member (which is like gold to me right now -🙁 )

what can i do to get him active?
or
what can i do to tactically get him out if his mod position without causing any hissy tantrums?

please respond, i'm going to go retreat and nurse me throbbing headache from all this....

Well i have been in the same position actually. And if they arent active then there really isnt a point in having them as a moderator. You need reliable staff.
Instead of making it into a big deal, and causing upset on both sides, simply tell him/her that unless there activity increases you will have to remove the status.

I dont mean to be rude, but if he where as much as a friend as you are to him, he wouldnt put u in this position, and would be understanding in your decisions. -happy-

i am in the same position as you, exactly the same! Its none stop promoting, trying to spread the words, getting good moderators and advertising. may cost money but it WILL bring in traffic, there my tips i hope they help -razz-

Just tell him, plain and simple, that an admins job is to be active every day, welcome new members, advertise the forum and to do their best. If he isn't doing any of that then why has he got the priviledge. Sometimes you can't help it because school or work gets in the way (that happened to me just recently) but if not then you need to find someone more reliable that will do the job properly. Just tell him that in a nice way and say that he can't be that bothered about being an admin if he doesn't do anything.

Tolken, Ummmm. try to lay off the bumping old topics. I've noticed you've brought back a lot of month old topics, without adding much insight to the topic. I'm sure this issue was resolved over a month ago 😉

But, i'll add my 2 cents.

freinds and business never work out. Just think of that scenario in reference to a job, like if you did all the work, but your friends is always there when it's time to cash the check.

Be done with him, unless you like being walked all over by a friend. He just wants to feel important, being in an admin position, but wants nothing to do with the responsibility.

I've already had to remove 4 staff i've had the past year, and were some of my best friends before i made my forum, i knew on other sites.

guess what? they're still active on my forum to this day.

your friend will either repsect you more, for actually doing the right thing, and stop taking his bull crap, or you just need to find some new friends; who actually support you.

You have also helped me. I'm having the same problem with my two mods. Thanks.

Perhaps they really don't want to do it after all and are worried about telling you, another way would be to say you're thinking about getting another admin in to help out, might just jolt them into action
