If a desktop or laptop pc use a HDD(Hard Disk Drive) Im wondering what would a tablet pc would use?
Just a quick question.
Hope someone can get the answer.

Thanks,
Spudster

HDD stands for Hard <b>Disk<b> Drive - not Hard Desk Drive xD

The iPad uses flash storage and some might use SDD's too.

I fixed the mistake thought there was something wrong with the post,, Anyway if the SDD did fail would they be able to replace them or would the whole tablet need replacing?

PS: is that where the OS is installed on?

A SSD would only fail due to overheating or power surge. They have no moving parts what so ever and are built tough.

And yes that is where the OS is installed.

Most Tablets use Flash memory/SSD. They are pretty durable like the memory/storage on your cell phone, Wii, digital camera, graphing calculator, and USB Flash drive.

Although, Archos have a 250 GB Ultra-thin Hard Drive in its 80 G9 Turbo ICS 250GB 8-Inch Tablet. I think it uses the same type of hard drive as the iPod Classic which has a 120GB or larger drive.

That would be a waste of money if the memory failed you carn,t replace it like a hard drive. But the idea of a non-spinning memmory system sounds better.

SSD is much bettter and will soon replace normal HDDs but they still do fail.
I had a 120 gb SSD in my laptop that died after 1.5 years.

Tablets use flash and SSD.

Aslong as there not soldered onto the motherboard It can be replaced they sound alot better then HDD.

Im wondering if its possible to reinstall Android incase anything happeneds Ive done it with a firmware update but not by the memory itself.

The Barnes and Noble Nook with a Micro SD Slot has an un-official live boot MicroSD card called Nook2Android which can be use to run an un-skinned official version of Android on the Nook Tablet instead of the skinned version of Android which B&N pre-installs on the Nook.

As long as the MicroSD card slot is not broken, you can use an N2A MicroSD card to run Android via a MicroSD memory card which has the Android OS installed on the card.

Samsung galaxy has a SD directory could that be it?
Froggyboy904 could you find one for samsung galaxy?

I'm not sure since this card is only for Barnes and Noble Nook Tablets. I think there is not one for Samsung Galaxy tablets because Samsung tablets already use the regular version of Android instead of a skinned version of Android like the B&N Nook Tablet, and Amazon Kindle Fire.
