Just a general question for you guys to answer.
Not sure if it's posted yet because i never used search, typical SpideRX.

So say there were five guys that planned a EliTe Spam Project(just made that up) on your forum and they were posting useless stuff and had like a program/bot that uses there user account and was sending mass PM's to people.
I have had people like that on a few forums i work with, say for example there was a trusted person who had V.i.P permissions and registered a new account started spamming for better rank other than V.i.P!
I actually hate those guys because they reject it, and then it will go on and on then it would happen again.

What are your opinions on it, btw that story was made up just an example.

If a group of spammers came on my forum then I'd be really angry but delete their posts, their accounts and ban their IPs nonetheless.

I would ban their IP, and if they persisted, ban their IP range. If it went any further than that I might have to impose Admin Validation.

Luckily I have never had to clean up a spam attack, but if I did get one I would just ban the member and trash the posts, no big deal.

This has never happened on any of my forums. I would ipban, and delete topics.

Same with me, I haven't had any spammers.

were they from similar IPs? If so you may need to ban the city it came from.

nope. some from uzbekistan, some from mexico, some from russia some from china. i guess you could say i have a global forum 😛 but o well. it slowed down and it added some members haha

I would put a few tables together, put on some kevlar, get out my mp5 and 50 cal sniper rifle, plant some claymores, call a few buddies, give them some m16's, and wait for the spammers to come back. then I would gun them down. one by one, until there is no one left.

hope this helps :cheer:

thats basically what i did lol only the cyber version lol good idea

i would disable the board for abit of time, delete therre accounts, ban there IP adress, and e-mail them telling them to !"£$ off

This what I will do in order.
  • I would put the forum offline say i am go to update somethings.
  • Delete 90% of the posts
  • Edit 10% of their posts so they look like a normal member.
  • Band their email and IP.

They can change IP, making it seem that they are global.

My spammers actually come from Tennesse and Iceland, but they can make it look like they're from Germany and such.

yeah. the only thing is that the english always looks like it came straight from google translator haha so i at least know they don speak english

You know, I know of a website that contains a large list of IPs belonging to spammers to look out for. It's called ProjectHoneypot. If anyone here gets new guests on their forum, I suggest you go on the site and look up their IP so that you can determine whether it is a "malicious IP" or not.

Just thought I'd mention it 🙂

I went and advertised my forum at school... and all of a sudden people in my school began to think it was cool to ''raid'' my forum Anonymous style. I banned the lot of them and introduced admin account screening until they moved on and then I removed it 🙂
