So, when you are stressed, what do you normally do? Do you do things to relieve it, or just live with it till it goes away? Or do you do something else entirely?
Usually I go on walks when stressed. If the weather is questionable, I head to my own personal campgrounds (I have a backyard with large pines, a fire pit, and a old creek bed running through it).
I usually don't think or don't bother doing these even though I should.
Deep breathing helps me the most. And trying to make myself calm my thoughts and stuff. Relaxing music, or just distracting myself with something I like.
Normally, I'll go take a nice, warm shower. I always do that when I get home from work. I find it soothing. Then I'll have the rest of the evening to read, which is something else I find relaxing.
If there's a task that's stressing me out, like work or a chore, I'll procrastinate on it for as long as possible. This does absolutely nothing to relieve the stress, and possibly even amplifies it. Eventually, some kind of switch flips and I'll hyper-focus on doing the thing until it's done.
If an event or person is stressing me out, I just need some quiet time. A warm shower helps, or crawling into bed or under a blanket on the couch. Things are always better by the next day.
For me nothing seems to be working. So I have decided to get tablets these days. Because my blood pressure is usually 180. I have to find out ways to reduce the stress.
Usually I enjoy a hot bath after pouring in some relaxing salts with some lavender candles burning. I find it helps relieve body and muscle tensions which allows me to think a little more clear. Another thing I tend to do is get out into nature and enjoy a slow walk through the woods, along a river or the ocean, wherever really, as long as I'm out in the fresh air and out of the "city life".
